There are quite a lot of motorists in the UK who do not bother to take out car insurance and there may be some owners of motorhomes who do not on purpose arrange motorhome insurance. Some interesting research has been undertaken by the Motor Insurers” Bureau (MIB) that reveals a sizeable percentage of young drivers do not have motor insurance in place. Apparently the research reveals that 25% of drivers who are aged between 18 to 24 are not aware that it is a legal requirement to have car insurance in place for motor vehicles that are on the public road system. We are sure that you will agree the above is a staggering figure.

The survey was carried out with 2,000 adults in Great Britain. Interestingly, the research also revealed that 52% of drivers in the above age bracket did not realize that not every car insurance policy would automatically be renewed every 12 months. Some drivers may not realise that their car or motorhome is not insured until they spot that the insurance company has stopped taking direct debits out of his or her bank account. There may even be some motorists who never spot that the direct debit is no longer being claimed.

Should such an individual be involved in a road traffic accident can you imaging how he or she would feel if it was at that point they discovered they had no vehicle insurance in place. The financial hardship this could cause may prove to be huge with the individual being faced with a bill for thousands of pounds to repair the other parties vehicle never mind his or her own car or motorhome.

So, do make sure that you insure your motorhome if it is on the public road system.
