Those of you who either own a motorhome or are thinking of buying one may be interested to read that the demand to purchase motorhomes, caravans and campervans has increased this year. According to information published by Gumtree, demand for such leisure vehicles has gone up by a staggering 133% since the beginning of 2026.
Having said that, without wishing to sound negative, it is going to be interesting to see if that pattern continues or remains the same in view of the USA/Iran war helping push up fuel prices by a considerable amount. Will we now see a drop in such demand in the coming weeks if some people decide to have second thoughts about investing in a motorhome?
As temperatures increase hopefully in the next few weeks, will we see an increase in the demand for motorhomes? One would expect that to be the case although it will be interesting to see if interest is as great as what it may have been if the above war had not started.
Interestingly, the greatest interest being shown for the above types of leisure vehicles was in Fife in Scotland with total views of 45,607 whereas say in Worcestershire there were only 19,216 views.
If you are considering buying a motorhome then you will need to decide whether to purchase a new or a used one. Such a decision is often based upon your financial circumstances. Although many people would love to be able to invest in a new motorhome there will be a lot of people who quite simply cannot afford to make such an investment but are in a position to purchase a second hand motorhome.
There are for and against both options so a great deal of research may need to be done if you are considering buying a motorhome. However, before committing to such a large outlay, have you considered renting a motorhome for say a weekend or a week’s holiday to see if it is the type of holiday you, your partner and family is likely to enjoy? There is quite a difference from a financial point of view between paying out for a week’s hire of a motorhome than paying tens of thousands of pounds to buy such a leisure vehicle.
