You are probably aware that we are seeing an increasing number of days each year in the UK when the temperature outside is very hot. One of the reasons for this is said to be global warming. So, if you are intending to go away for a few days holiday what sorts of things can you do to cope with hotter weather?

Well, you need to make sure that your motorhome is roadworthy and you have the required level of coolant in the engine. You should also make sure that you have enough engine oil. Don’t forget to check that your tyres are at the correct pressure as heat can have an impact.

Hopefully, your motorhome will have air conditioning. If this is the case make sure that it is blowing out very cool air. When driving you may wish to consider keeping the windows closed to stop the very warm air from outside get into your motorhome as it is better to rely on your air conditioning.

Do take plenty of breaks on your journey and ensure that you are carrying plenty of cool drinking water or some other liquids. Also ensure that you have an adequate supply of food to eat during your journey to help keep your energy levels up.

Hot weather can cause some people to become drowsy. You do not want this to happen to you whilst you are driving your motorhome otherwise you could have an accident.

When you park up your motorhome for the night try and do so in the shade of one or more trees. Also be carful in which direction you park to reduce the amount of sunlight getting into your motorhome. You may also wish to have one or more fans blowing cold air out into your motorhome whilst you are parked up.

Try to avoid cooking inside your motorhome. Instead why not consider using a barbeque. Rather than purchase items that need to be cooked why not consider eating more salads.

Do make sure that the on-board fridge is in good working order as you will no doubt need to use it in hot weather to keep certain food and drink cold.
