Wouldn’t it be great if you were able to reduce the amount you are paying to insure your motorhome? Well, when your existing cover is coming up for renewal why not check as it should only take a few minutes to find out.
On a number of occasions each year the Confused.com Car Insurance Price Index is published. Yes, it relates to car insurance but you may find that if average premiums for car insurance have been coming down then so may the cost of motorhome cover. In any event, there will be many owners of motorhomes who also own a family car.
According to the above index, the average cost of car insurance at the end of May 2025 totalled £757 per annum. Three months prior to that (28th February 2025) premiums averaged £777 per annum meaning a drop of £20 per annum. Back at the end of December 2023 premiums averaged £995 per annum and they have been reducing gradually since then. Wouldn’t it be lovely if premiums continued to fall especially in the current economic climate here in the UK.
So many factors affect how much you pay to insure a motor vehicle. For instance, your age, driving experience, where you live, how many miles you drive, what you use the vehicle for and where you live.
For instance, if you live in Inner London premiums average £1,185 per annum – more than anywhere else in the UK. In Outer London premiums average £967 per annum. In Manchester and Merseyside premiums average £896 per annum. The cheapest region is the South West with premiums averaging £515 per annum.
The age of a driver has a huge impact on premiums with an 18 year old paying an average of £2,329 per annum but a 46 year old paying an average of £688 per annum – what a difference!
